Houston Happenings

We went into Houston this week and admired the tall buildings and wetook a walk down historic Texas St. Most of the shops are inside the buildings and there are tunnels and skywalks to get from one building to another. We will do some more exploring of the tunnels this week.

We also went to the Galleria shopping centre on Friday night. It is very large and is the 5th largest in the USA. It seems to go forever and has an indoor skating rink. After the shopping we had a delicious meal at the cheesecake factory.

Yesterday we set off to go to the Houston Zoo but due to a traffic jam we got there a lot later than planned. We took Thomas on a small train that runs in the park twice. We felt it was probably too hot for Jack to be out too long so we deffered the zoo section of our trip.

Our Trip update 1

We set off last Sunday for our USA 2008 adventure!! We had a long flight to New York and didn't arrive till about 11pm as the airport had been closed because of a storm. We spent Monday and Tuesday pounding the pavements and seeing and feeling the city that is New York. It certainly is a unique place with 13000 yellow cabs constantly honking their horns and people everywhere 24/7. We had a great time. There was a heat wave on in NY on our visit so it got pretty hot out there. We enjoyed visitng central park - green relief in a city of tar and cement. The architecture and detail in the buildings is beautiful. Our first stop was the Empire State Building, then we took a tour to downtown and went to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island Time Square Trinity Church and Wall St area.

Down the beach

These are some pictures from the afternoon I took Ethan, Emma and Sarah to Manly.

Holidays, Birthdays and more...

Since the last time I wrote in this blog a lot has happened. We had Andrew come to visit for a week. It was so great to see him and enjoy his words of wisdom and philosophy !!

We had Ethan and Morgan's birthdays earlier this month. They are both growing up so fast and we love all those things about them that are so unique.

John and I went up to Stanthorpe this weekend for a get - a - way. We went to Anna's restuarant - the food was fantastic and then tried to walk it off in the Sundowner National Park.

Summer Catch UP!!

No Blogs since Christmas - so I am giving it to you in a rush.
John and I went to the Bunya Mountains in early January - thought we would escape the wet weather in Brisbane. We had a great time.
We had a usual school holiday tea party - we invited the teddy bears!! As always it was a lot of fun.
Emma, Sarah and Ethan and Grandma spent an afternoon at Manly and enjoyed the water and sand on the end of the high tide.
And lastly, Eryn turned 9. Grandpa made her a typewriter cake - for the budding author!
